FamilyTies of MA presents ​a workshop for parents and grandparents on ways to organize medical and educational records. Participants take home, binders, organizational supplies, and strategies to manage paperwork.  

Basic Rights Workshop

Elaine Rabbitt from the FCSN will help parents and caregivers navigate the process to request support services and understand the laws and guidelines surrounding special education.

Shriver Center: Info, Resources, & Research

Coordinator, Lucy Lorin, will present "Information, Resources, & Research" available through the EK Shriver Center, which helps individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

IEP & 504: Building a Better Team

Team Chairs, Jamie Desjardin and Amanda Smelcer discussed strategies for developing a positive team dynamic at IEP and 504 meetings. Caregivers and staff shared ideas and experiences in effective communication, navigating policies, and addressing difficult problems.

Autism & Insurance: What You Need to Know

Amy Weinstock, Director of Autism Resource Center presented information on eligibility and rights under ARICA, MassHealth and CommonHealth, and premium assistance. 

Meet the SPED Director

Special Education Director, Brenda Looney, and Tantasqua & Union 61 staff shared their roles in the district. Caregivers and staff discussed struggles, successes, and concerns as well as brainstormed ideas for improving communication in the district.
